About Rev.Brian
Brian was born in London, England in 1955, moved to Texas in 2001 where he married Sharon. Brian is an ordained U.M.C. minister and is legally entitled to perform marriages in Texas. With several degrees, both ‘honorary’ and ‘earned’, Brian has also held posts at several British Universities, performing both staff and teaching roles. He has worked at the University of London and also at the Open University, which is the premier distance teaching University in the UK. Brian has also held posts on the staff of a leading North Texas four year University.
Talking recently Brian was asked about his style. “I am always somewhere between formal and modern” he said. “I also don’t have the overheads of renting an office or other location, so my prices are usually quite affordable.” But where do you meet your clients is also something asked frequently. He replied “I’m a big coffee drinker and I really like the boutique coffee shops we have in the area now. I’m also happy with Starbucks coffee, so if you want to discuss a wedding you can always make me happy by suggesting we meet there. About the only thing better I can think of is somewhere with the word Bakery in its name.”
Driven by the urge to get it right…
When asked why he loves to perform wedding ceremonies he smiled and replied: “I really enjoy helping my couples through what is traditionally a very stressful time. Everyone has the vision of a wedding nightmare and I actually had that happen to me at my wedding.
Yes, even at MY own wedding!
When I married my wonderful Texas wife Sharon, the minister used the wrong text for our ceremony. It was not the one we had agreed on. Both Sharon and I had put in so much work to craft it and make it meaningful for us both and he messed it up.
It was that experience made me realize that I wanted to do my best to avoid that happening to anyone else. More than a decade and hundreds of ceremonies on from coming to that realization, here I am.”
Some basic principles:
- I only perform one or at most two weddings a day. This means I can get to your venue in good time.
- Unlimited contact with me – no fee for more emails!
- Fixed price, so no extras to pay for.
- YOU approve the text for the Ceremony.
- Rehearsal included – usually one full hour.
- I can provide a small sound system (consisting of wireless microphones and a 100 watt speaker on a stand) for the ceremony if needed. Tell me when you book me, so I know to bring it with me on the big day.
